I Do Fancy The Theatre

I am seriously considering buying a ticket to the Eugene O’Neill play Desire Under The Elms at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre next week.

I am not that familiar with the works of Eugene O’Neill, but I do know he is a very respected playwright, who has written many highly-regarded plays. The Goodman is an established, popular venue, known for putting on consistently high-quality productions.

I am not a regular patron of the theatre, but I might have to venture forth for their latest offering, for my own personal reasons.

Splotchy’s Contribution To Numb3r5

Here’s a discussion of my selections for the Numb3r5 mix, Volume 14 of the Green Monkey Music Project.

Four Thousand Days – Luna
The best song off their later album The Days Of Our Nights. If you can resist singing the chorus “Remember, remember…” out loud when you hear it, you’re a stronger person than I.

Every 1’s A Winner – Hot Chocolate
MizSplotchy introduced me to this band when we first started dating. She had a 70’s music compilation that had the wonderful “You Sexy Thing” on it. If you’re not familiar with them, they are a great, funky band worth checking out.

From A Motel 6 #1 – Yo La Tengo
A nice instrumental track from their two-disc outtakes/rarities collection Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo

106 Beats That – Wire
I dip once again into Wire’s debut album Pink Flag for a short, sweet track.

Expresso 2222 – Gilberto Gil
The title song from a great album. Wonderful, high-energy song.

The Thousandth and Tenth Day Of The Human Totem Pole – Captain Beefheart
The last song off the last album of Captain Beefheart.

There was a gurgling and googling heard
A tenth of the way up the pole.
Approaching was a small child
With Statue of Liberty doll.
